How to calculate percentages (with examples)

Find X% of Y: multiply Y by X and divide by 100. Example: 18% of 250 = 250 × 18 ÷ 100 = 45. What percent is A of B: divide A by B and multiply by 100. Example: 20 is what percent of 400? 20 ÷ 400 × 100 = 5%. Percent change: ((new − old) ÷ old) × 100. Example: from 80 to 92 is ((92−80) ÷ 80) × 100 = 15% increase.
